What does Trump Really Believe?

Trump believes the world is a "zero-sum place". Even his supporters have cautioned that his proposals should not be taken literally. Trump says he wants big tax cuts for businesses, and to rebuild the falling bridges and run down airports. These strategies don't seem to add up. The tax cuts he talks about, come right out of the Republican playbook. When experts look at his proposals, they can not "price"them because they are so vague, yet they can infer federal deficits will soar. Trump made a point to talk about the $20 trillion debt the US has in every debate. We have yet to see if this is the promise he will keep in his first year as president. One big topic he always talks about is making things; yet fails to mention the work that goes into that and the work Americans he plans to deport can do. All in all, Trump's proposals are vague and incoherent. It is hard to see a clear future with Trump as the new president.

Questions:
1. Do you think Trump will stay true to what he has been saying in the debates?

2. Do you think Trump will be an effective president?

3. Trump's statements/proposals often time don't add up. Do you think this will effect his ability to have a well run presidency? In other words, does he know what he is doing?

  1. Trump is still a celebrity. He used the media to attract attention and he used it wisely. Already in the past couple of days, I have seen him changing some of his polices. In fact, he wants to reform Obamacare, not repeal it. Also, he contacted South Korea to reassure them that the USA would still be backing them up military wise despite his claim prior. As I like to say, Trump supporters were playing checkers while Trump himself was playing chess.

  2. I think that Trump has a lot of learning to do in the next couple months about politics and what it takes to run a country. Although he is a businessman it takes a lot more to run a whole country.

  3. So far, Trump has not been sticking to all of his policies, and is even changing his stance on some of them since he became the president elect. I agree with Geth, Trump seems to know what he is doing when it comes to the media and gaining attention. Now that he has won the nomination, we may be starting to see what he really stands for.

  4. I think trump is not going to stick to his policies because it's easy to say things but it's a different story when it comes to doing something. No I don't think trump will be an effective president because he has no politics experience.

  5. I believe that maybe he will stick to some of his proposals that he made during the debate but some he will not. Its more of 50/50 shot.He will be one of the worst presidents that this country has ever had. Yes it will effect his presidency because half the time he does not even know what he is talking about.

  6. I think that Trump will realize that this is not what he wanted when he gets into office. I think that he will realize that he is going to have to do actual work and he can't get other people to do it for him and he isn't going to like that.

  7. I feel like Trump will not stay true to what he said in his debates. He likes throwing out big statements, but this is probably his tactic to get votes.

  9. Trump has declared many things within his debate but I don't think he will stay true to all of what he has said because he has said to respect women but we know from leaked footage otherwise. However, I think he will be an ok president for he is trying to get rid of illegals.

  10. I feel that Trump will not keep his word on EVERYTHING he had said, but I feel he is gonna really focus on certain thing. In my opinion I don't think he will be the best president, but he will be ok he won't be the worse either

  12. I think building a wall and draining the swamp and banning Muslims is something that can be done, but now Trump will prank us and say CY@ and ditch what he promised because it takes too much time.

  13. I don't think Trump will do a lot of the stuff he said he was going to do, but I also feel like he may do stuff such as building the wall. He thinks being the president is like a game, but he does not know he has work to do as president.

  15. If he does a some of what he says he is planning to do, it will not be cohesive. He is a business man with minimum knowledge on politics. I feel that he will move away from supporting the lower income families, and start to help more republican based areas.

  16. I personally do not believe that Trump will do what he has said. His views have changed over a dozen times whenever he speaks. One day he seems to hate all muslims, and then the next day he has love for them. Overall, his rhetoric does not match up with his personal views. At the end of the day we have no idea what his actual views are. In all honesty, we just have to wait and see.

  17. I don't know if trump will make an effective president. I just feel like he should have more of a background in politics because he was just in the entertainment issue.

  18. I do not believe that Trump will stay true to what he said in the race. Yes, i do believe that Trump will be an effective president. I do believe slightly that it may effect his presidency, but i believe he will be able to fill the role of president.

  19. I don't think Trump is going to stay true to everything that he said in the race. It is rare for a President to actually do the things that they propose due to the baggage that the previous President leaves behind as well as the current issues of the day. I actually do think Trump will be an incredibly effective President. Whether or not it will be in a positive or a negative way we will just have to wait and see. I think that he will eventually figure out what he needs to do as President as well as have a ton of advisors to help him out whenever he needs it. It is going to be an interesting four years.

  20. I don't believe Trump will follow through with all the plans he has proposed, but I do believe he will take action and try to follow through. I agree that many of his plans are very vague and he doesn't address the "how" part of his plans to improve the nation. I'm interested in seeing how he will work with the Republican party to make progress on the US's current state.

  21. Trump will definitely be an effective president if he follows through with everything he says he would do.

  22. i hope Trump will stay true to every word he said because we really need change and improvement in so many areas but only if Trump and all officials work hard on this so America becomes great again .

  23. I do not think Trump will go through with what he says and I am pretty sure that the Republican party will keep Donald on check so he won't make them seem to foolish. I think that he will eventually get over himself and do right by his hardworking citizens whether it be Blacks,Hispanics,Whites etc.

  24. We can already see that he will not follow through on what he said he would due to his lack of action thus far. I do not think he will be an effective president and that it could be a future of wars and debt for our country.

  25. Trump will not follow up on what he said he would do because it was just a strategy so that republicans voted for him, he said what they wanted for them to hear in order for the republicans to vote for him and so it did work. I highly doubt that Trump will be an effective president he doesn't seem fit for the position he wasn't able to fully explains his plans during his campaign and he answered questions really dumbly.

  26. I honestly do not believe trump will stay true to what he has been saying in the debates because to me all he talks about just doesn't sound too reasonable. I don't know what to expect from a person elected as president of the US with no background in the job, but this doesn't that his ideas wont benefit the US. All in all I cant really make a choice on whether he will be effective or not, just waiting to see what happens in the near future.

  27. Trump is not going to go through with many of the things that he said he was going to do. I do not what so ever believe he will be a good president or do anything good for the country

  28. I dont think that trump will follow up with all of this because theres only so much he could do that will have the approval of congress.

  29. I believe that Trump is going to be an effective president due to what wrong things he is going to do
