Trump's Hesitation on Immigrants

According to SF Gate News, Trump is SUDDENLY unsure of his thoughts on immigration. Thus, this Wednesday August 31st, Trump will be trying to clarify his stance on any of his positions in the election. Many supporters hope that Trump will make a strong and decisive decision. While critics, judge that if Trump could not make up his mind with just the Presidential elections then he will not be able to take the pressure of being a President. Not only has his whole campaign only been bits and pieces of what he is actually trying to propose but Trump has actually not done anything to fulfill any of the promises he has declared. Trump’s new campaign manager has told him to be more specific in his campaign; however, his position on a host of issues remains vague. If President Trump were to become the president without any detailed plans it might limit him on what he might achieve, since a new president’s power is at its apex early on.

Discussion Questions:
1.   Is Trump’s hesitation due to the US fulfilling it's goal of 10,000 Syrian refugees?
2. If Trump continues to be unsure of his decision will he ever be able to make a change in the US?
3.  As long as Trump has a more detailed plan for his presidency do you think he will be able to be a good President?

  1. I think that if Trump was to make a more detailed goal he would have more support or at least support from some people who were unsure what they thought about him. I also think it could be not as good for him because if he reveals his strategy or plans there is more for the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton to counter or to show how flawed they may be

  2. I think Trump is a bad candidate for president. Him being unsure and going back on something he has made so prominent about his campaign supports why he is a bad candidate. His plans are not good and he will not make good decisions as president if he can't make them now.

  3. I think if Trump were to suddenly go back on his word so close to the end of the election, it shows a lot about his character and how he will act as a president. If he were to go back on major decisions as a president, he would be ineffective and incompetent.

  4. I think it is finally hitting Trump, or his campaign manager, that, all of his racist policies and opinions may get him voters in some places, the number of voters it gains is not enough to have a majority against the larger number of voters opposed to them. people who were previously in support of trump may also be beginning to see that in all of his promises he never mentions a METHOD of fulfilling his promise

  7. Seeing that Trump is having second thoughts is a big issue. One should be determined and sure of their ideas if they want to become president. He needs to make better plans for everyone if he wants to win.

  8. I think that Trump's constant shifting of ideas among other things makes him a weak candidate, and indecisiveness would definitely hold back overall progress for the country.

  11. If Trump does have more detailed plan for Presidency then I think he could turn out to be an okay president. He has lead many companies into success, so he might be able to utilize some of those skills into politics; however, some of his ideas are extremely radical and that may create further conflict. If he becomes indecisive about his ideas that may lead into other problems because his voters like him due to his decisive behavior.

  12. Trump is a great exhibitionist and thats really all he has going for him. Even as a business man he's failed to be both ethical and successful in many of his business ventures. Trump's not focused on getting more detailed, he's focused on pleasing his followers and appealing to other crowds of people as well because the white conservative vote can only get him so far.

  14. The elections are right around the corner and it seems to me that he's only trying to do the best he can to get as many supporters as possible. He's changing his thoughts on immigration only because he sees it can benefit him.

  16. By providing a more detailed plan I'm sure that he would be more reliable if he follows it. Trump didn't get the position he has now by being lazy, he's doing what works for him, and it's working pretty well. Although, I do believe that all of this last minute hesitation about what his "real" positions are on these topics right before the election is just a last minute plan on how to get as many supporters as possible. We need a president who has a plan for the future of the U.S., and the way Trump has been acting it is evident that he is not fit for that position. Many of his radical ideas and the way he has presented himself garnered him a lot of attention, and although it is good for publicity, it isn't ok for someone who's running for presidency.

  17. Trump does not have a solid stance on anything and is unrealistic. Trump does have some good ideas, but he's too indecisive. This is partially the reason people find him unreliable; he never lives up to his word.

  18. I believe that he is changing his mind because he is realizing that he might loose this election to the amount of people that go against his beliefs towards immigration and people wont vote for him. There is no need for change with immigration it is all fine and he does not focus on the real problems that Americans face everyday. This man will never be president and if he were to then we are all doomed.

  19. I believe that Trump will not meet his goal and his chances of him becoming president are getting lower in percentage.

  20. Trump hesitation has nothing to do with Syrian refugees. Syrian refugees are brought into US legally and they have been "vetted" to the best of US security agencies ability. What Trump is referring to is illegal immigrants from Central America that we have no idea who they are, what they are, and how healthy they are. What Trump is talking about are the criminal element amongst 11 million illegal immigrants. A good portion of those immigrants are working in agriculture doing the jobs that nobody in America wants to do. There is also subset of people that occupy jail cells and have committed serous crimes while in United States. Those are the ones that Trump wants to send back, but in order to figure out who is who he wants to send everyone back and let them come in the legal way. His message is what is snot clear about illegally crossing the boarder.
He is hesitant because a large portion of those 11 million people are a part of US economy legally or not. Deporting so many people in such a short period of time will cause a shock on both ends of the aisle. That is most likely the cause of his hesitation.

  21. I strongly believe that Trump will not reach his goal of becoming president, one for being unsure and also because of the things he has said in his previous speeches, which have made him look like a bad candidate, that just knows how to talk, but not take action, I find it hard for him to become president.

  22. I think that Trump's sudden change in views on certain issues goes to show why he would not be a ver good president. For the majority of his campaign he has made it very clear what his views on immigrants were, and it is odd that he chooses to try and make public that he is changing those views now. I think that if he is not able to hold a firm stance on his perspective on certain issues now, how ill he be able to do that and have a plan of action in his presidency. In addition to this, I feel like Trump also wants to be president just to have more control, and I don't feel as though that is good reason to be president. Therefore, I don't see Trump as a fit candidate to be president and run the country.

  23. Trump's policies have received a lot of negative reception from those who are more liberal. I feel as though his sudden change in views on major topics expresses a lot about his character; therefore, it reveals his unreliability due to his inconsistency. He does not usually provide detailed plans for his presidency, and often in his speeches, he provides very vague ideas. He does not usually describe how issues will be confronted or funded, so I feel as though this combined with his inconsistency makes him a weak candidate.

  25. If Trumps continues be unsure of his decisions, I do not thing that he will be able to make changes a change in the US. This is because if he can't decide on what to do, he will never be able to follow through on anything. Even if he has a more detailed plan on what he wants to do, it does not mean that he will for sure do what he promises. He might make changes or just may not be capable of doing what he says he will.

  26. Trump is suddenly changing his mind to benefit himself, he wants to have as many supporters as possible to put himself at a greater chance of winning the presidential election.

  27. I believe that Trump will make a terrible president if he is elected. I also believe that Trump is suddenly changing his mind because he knows he needs to get those who have not picked a candidate, to vote for him.

  28. I believe that Trump is much too indecisive to become america's next president. He has changed his mind on many discussions throughout this presidential election and that is not a good quality to have.

  29. By trump changing his decisions or being unsure with his decisions it will make him look like he's not ready for presidency and it will make americans loose trust in him because to be a president you should know whats good for it and clearly he doesn't since he can't make up his mind.

  30. i don't think Trump is the right president for the united states since he can't even make up his mind if he will support immigrants or no . he is trying to win no matter what but is he doing the right thing i don't really think so.

  31. I think that he finally realized that he might lose to Hilary Clinton if he doesn't change his views now. He is probably faking the whole thing, so he can get a couple more views that will secure his spot as president.

  32. That fact that he was shifting from one idea to another makes him seem very unorganized. It's as if he didn't know what he truly wants
