Donald J. Trump is the 45th President of the United States of America

The results are in, and Donald J. Trump has been elected 45th president of the United States of America. Many people are outraged and afraid of what this means for the country, on top of the house and the senate also being under Republican control. The future of the country is promised to be very different from the way it was before, in one way or another. After a dominating performance in the election, a man known for merely novelty had defeated a long time recognized politician, Senator Hillary Clinton. A year ago this would have been considered impossible, to some people it still is. Half of the country is on constant protest, saying phrases such as "not our president" and so on. Many people are afraid that all the diversity work this country has done to accepted each other will be reversed and that we will go backwards as a nation. Only the future holds the answer.

-Do you believe America's anxieties are deserved? Or are people overreacting
-Do you think Trump can change the minds of all those against him and show that he is a good president?
-What does the future look like when Trump gets officially sworn in in 2017?

  1. I think that America's anxieties are deserved, but not to this extent. They act like he will kill anyone he wants to. I believe the only way Trump can change peoples minds will be to prove, because actions speak louder than words. I believe that the future looks very disruptive because no one agrees with Trump, and when he is officially sworn in he will most likely have a lot of protest from the Black and Latino population in America, which will not end well.

  2. I believe at this point in time the people are overreacting. Yes we don't know what he has to offer, yes we don't know whether or not he is suited to be a president but until we don't see Trump in action we can't over react yet. I believe that yes he can change the minds of all those people against him and that he is a good president. On the other hand there will always be a group of people who agrees with his ideas and the other group that doesn't agree with his ideas. It is to early to predict the future and how it will look like when he gets sworn in in 2017. All I can say is there will be haters and there will be supporters.

  3. After watching Trump's victory speech and his first meeting with President Obama claiming that he will be meeting him multiple times, I realized that Trump is a different person than what he was during his presidential campaign. Now he is less aggressive and more charitable. Defeating Hillary with one of the worst presidential campaigns in American History takes talent and intelligence. I was rooting for Hillary's success, so I was disappointed by the outcome of the election just like the other 49% of the American population. However, now I am rooting for Trump's success as our next president because, as President Obama said, "the president's success is the country's success."

  4. I believe Americans have an right to be anxious after all the derogatory things he has said during his campaign, however, I believe the violence taking place during riots and protest will not change anything - if anything, it will make things worse. At a time like this, its crucial that Americans unite more than anything. Violence will only take us 10 steps back in American history.

  5. I believe that Trump's fear mongering has resulted in fear throughout the nation, so people's responses would be natural. However,I do agree that riots and protests with violence are overstepping and making the conditions even worse. As for changing the minds of others, I feel that he will hopefully try to change in order to regain public support in the midst of all the protests. Especially since, like Victor said, President Obama said, "the president's success is the country's success." The future of 2017 is hard to predict at this moment, but there are concerns for minorities and the LGBTQ community.

  6. I think the reactions, fears, and nerves are deserved and understood now the Trump is the president. I think it would be very difficult for Trump to change the minds of all those against him, especially when there have already been protests in schools, the day after he won. People are upset and scared of what America will be like. I think the future would be filled with a lot of continued protests for people to show how they are upset about the outcome.

  7. Trump has a chance to show America through actions that he could be a good president, but its highly unlikely he will. To me, he seems like an all-talk kind of guy. So many protests have taken place since election day and many people are outraged - I'm interested in seeing how Trump will handle all of this when he steps into office.

  8. In the end as previously stated, actions speak louder than words. I feel that it is a huge risk having him as president, and no one knows what the future will hold. But it will take a lot for people to start liking him.

  9. I don't blame Americans for being worried that Trump won because he is known for acting irrational and it's scary to think that he might make irrational choices that could effect America. I don't think he can change people minds because he is stubborn and does not Acknowledge his mistakes. I think that in the near futures we can expect to see a lot of protest.

  10. I think liberals have a good excuse to be worried because the government will be republican dominated for the next 4 years. In order for Trump to gain the trust of his opponents he has to become more moderate in his political stance, especially towards immigration. The next four years look rough but hopefully Trump wont divide this country further with his antics.

  11. I believe that America's anxiety is deserved. Trump has said some very inappropriate thing and lacks political experience, so I think that it is understandable that many Americans are worried. Depending on what Trump does on a president I think that he can change the minds of people that are against him, but to do this he will need to prove to America that he is a good president.

  12. People are overreacting because were all scared for what'll happen, if everything he said will come true. He'll try changing but it'll be very tough with all the judging towards him. I hope he matures into a successful president but he needs to take account what the people want. He has said inappropriate things but hope he changes in the future

  13. I believe that america's anxiety is deserved because Trump has said somethings in his previous debates that a lot of people did not like. I do not believe that Trump can change people's minds if he is still trying to build anything that he said in his debates. It really depends on what happens when Trump finally becomes president.

  14. I feel that Americas anxieties toward the election of Trump is very much necessary for when he speaks I believe he comes off as a racist, making Americans of a different racial background to Trump to feel anxious.

  15. I believe that people are reacting appropriately because it shows how the people of america really thinks.

  16. Donald J. Trump is a racist bigot misogynist who hates on gay people, blacks, and pansexuals. When he won last week I dropped my dino chicken tendies and just went to sleep.I’m so distressed right now I don’t know what to do. I didn’t mean to do that but I’m literally in shock from the results tonight. I feel like I’m going to explode. Right now my boi Wolf Blitzer on CNN gave Trump a good 1% chance of winning last year, and I know blowing 3-1 leads is the cool new thing to do in sports but how could the Dems lose this one per se? I want Calexit to happen to break away from angry America(tm). Get me out of here.

  17. I understand why people are acting in this manner because people are genuinely scared, and a lot of hate violence has occurred since Trump was elected. Personally I'm not particularly excited or happy about his election, but I'm willing to give him a chance to do his presidency right and hopefully he does because he is our president for at least the next 4 years.

  18. I feel like Americans should have the excuse to be anxious that Trump is president. It's going to take a while for people to accept him as president and because of this, the future of America is uncertain

  19. I think that people have a right to be anxious, but I think some people might be overreacting. I think that it is possible for Trump to change people's opinion of him through what he does in his presidency and the change he brings. As of right now I don't really know what the future holds with Trump as president because he is so unpredictable. Once being elected, he went back on some of the things he said during his campaign, so know now can really tell what will happen in the upcoming years with Trump as president.

  20. The very fact that these protests have erupted and schools across America that suddenly feel politically active have said "not our president," to me is an act bordering on being childish. The nation has spoken, those in the south and midwest and blue-collar workers have voted and overridden liberal and city voters. What has happened is the act of the Union and should be taken that way, not cried about and denied by those who didn't get their way. Those protesting are protesting a hopeless cause and are fighting a man who is not going to kill, harm or hurt anyone, but people still chose to feel victimized by a man who is not even in office yet. For all the past elections in which a leftist president or even moderate president has won, against the wishes of those blue collar workers or midwest laborers or even small business owners elsewhere, there was never such an outburst as this because they accepted what happened and tried to make the best. Now when a man elected by those very people gives those workers a four year light, everyone else choses to run and denounce the election because they did not get their way for once. It's childish and disconnected from what should happen; unity under a new leader and a new path forward. The future of America does not hold more protests with latino's or blacks either, considering they voted for Trump in overwhelmingly unexpected numbers. The future holds a nation run by a business man and not a career politician disconnected with what working people do in a functioning nation. The future holds a different kind of leader that was a citizen and working man, whether for better or for worse, who is not a politician set on centralizing power but rather enacting change as a concerned citizen.

  21. I think that anything can happen with trump as president. I also agree with kevin that it will take some time to get used to the new change

  22. I think people need to forget all the negative feelings they have for Trump. Even though it was a shock to everyone, he is now our president, and all the resentment directed towards him should be turned in to hope for our president in the next 4 years.

  23. I think it is possible to change people's minds of what they think about him if they give him a chance, and see what he does as president.
