WE DON’T agree with President-elect Donald Trump on much, but we happen to share his view that the Obama administration overreached in trying to rewrite immigration law unilaterally. Still, tough enforcement is one thing; gratuitous cruelty is another. Mr. Trump would be straying squarely into the second category if his immigration crackdown targets youngsters whom Mr. Obama has shielded from deportation since 2012. Under that program, 750,000 undocumented immigrants and mainly teenagers and 20-somethings who grew up in America and graduated from U.S. high schools — have received work permits and Social Security cards. Most have jobs; they pay taxes, open bank accounts and, for the most part, live productive, law-abiding lives. It would serve no public policy purpose to pursue this cohort of young people, most of whom were brought to America as children by their parents, and are undocumented through no fault of their own. Half have relatives who are U.S. citizens; roughly a quarter have children who were born here.To round them up, or threaten them with deportation, would mean hounding families who have lived here for well over a decade. Most of the youngsters are as culturally American as their U.S.-born neighbors; many are building careers that will contribute to their communities. They make no secret of their immigration status or whereabouts, having registered openly with the government under the Obama administration’s program. For Mr. Trump to use that database to target them would be a mistake that would brand his new administration as callous and recast this country as America the Punitive. Mr. Trump’s worst instincts on immigration were underscored by news that a notorious hardliner, Kris Kobach, would serve on his transition team. Mr. Kobach, the Kansas secretary of state, has been behind countless crusades over the past decade, many of them thwarted in federal courts, to harass and intimidate immigrants. Mr. Kobach vowed Thursday that the Trump administration would build that “beautiful” wall, and there’s no doubt Mr. Trump has a mandate to do so. It would be a massive waste of money — a $15 billion to $25 billion project that would do nothing to stop visa over-stayers, who represent a third of undocumented immigrants, and relatively little to deter illegal border crossings, already near a 40-year low. No wall is impermeable, and more Mexicans have left the United States than entered since the Great Recession of 2008. And no, Mexico won’t pay for the wall.
Questions:
Why does Mr. trump want to get rid of immigrants?
Is America Punitive now?
Are we anti feminist now that Donald Trump is a president?
I think that many of Trump's views on immigrants is because of many of the people he speaks with. The views that he has supported are very illogical and wouldn't do anything to benefit the country on the whole and would mostly just punish those who wish to continue their lives here as currently illegal immigrants.
I think that if he actually executes his idea of deporting as many immigrants as he can than he will cause America to lose about 1.6 trillion dollars. According to statistics, immigrants give us around trillions of dollars from income tax to blue collar jobs.
I think that this election has brought out an increase of negativity toward different groups of people, but as shown through the uprising in protests against this hatred our whole nation does not agree with it.
Trump wants to get rid of illegal immigrants. People are making a big deal about that saying Trump hates them but its exactly like saying someone who robbed a bank should not go to jail.
I'm sure why trump wants to get rid of immigrants but im guessing it's cause he's a racist and he's mad man looking for more power than he already has.
I think Trump wants to get rid of Immigrants because people have made many false claims about immigrants. I think Donald Trump will be overwhelmed with so much power.
Trump has views on illegal immigrants that some may think are extreme. He believes that if you have entered the country illegally then you should be deported.
I think Trump has an issue with people who come to America, a country built on immigration. He believes that the best way to handle the situation is to deport them and rip their families apart. I don't think that the entire county as a whole is racist, misogynistic, and xenophobic. However, this election has proved that many people do believe it is okay to be an indecent human.
I believe that Trump dose not hate immigrants, he simply believes that illegal immigrants should not be in america, people frequently mix up legal immigrants and illegal immigrants, there is a difference. while Trump may have personal issues relating to illegal immigrants, that is different that what he is trying to do. when people bring up america being built on immigrants they clearly do not fully understand the situation. Yes america is built on immigrants and yes immigrants have been extremely important and vital to the development of america, however there is a key difference between immigrants that have followed the legal process america has collectively made and immigrants that have decided to ignore that and come in illegally, Trump is not against immigration, he is simply against people disregarding the system america has put in place and staying in america expecting amnesty.
I feel like trump is changing his views on immigrants because he is now our president and he continues to try and reshape the way he talks to and about racial groups so that he can be more of a favorite.
Trump wants to get rid of immigrants because he they're they're all bad people and such. He's trying to make america great again by getting rid of those who make America great and are hard working people
