Lying along the border of Area 51 is Joe Sheahan' s family' s Nevada Groom Mine, which is currently in danger to the likeliness of the government. The family has been encountered by many government affiliated corporations who by all means tried obtaining this valuable piece of land with intimidation and 'embarrassingly low' prices says family lawyer James Leavitt. The family´s Nevada mine currently is 400 acres, 5,000 feet above sea level,  and holds minerals that were recently looked for by the Joe´s family in 2015. Since the early 1900´s, the family has been battling the government with health risks such as radiation from nuclear tests that have not been warned to the family, and now the government have taken the family deed after the Sheahans refused their offer for their piece of land. Now, Joe Sheahan and his family fight to find an agreeable value for the land, but if the establishment of an agreed amount cannot come to take place then the Sheahans are ready to take the battle to a jury trial.

1) Why do you think the Sheahan´s Nevada Groom Mine is so important for the government to acquire?
2) Do you think that the sight of extra terrestrial activity can play a part in the reason why the government desperately wants this piece of land? If so, explain what this could mean to the reputation of then government.
3) If your family was to own this property, would you be terrified to oppose the government or legally fight this battle in court? Explain.

  1. I would certainly fight this battle in court because past Supreme Court rulings have shown that defeating the government is not entirely impossible. I think that it is worth to try.

  2. If my family LEGALLY owns the property and I have paid all my taxes, etc., then I believe I have the right to my property and just because the government sees it as "valuable" they have no right to go to great lengths to take it from me.

  3. I believe that the government is doing its best to protect secrets by buying as much surrounding land as possible, they also are probably tired of dealing with people constantly filling complaints. I believe they should fight this through the courts because if nothing else it will at lease bring attention to what is going on

  4. It's highly idealistic to think that the government wants this land because of its association with extraterrestrial activity. While I do believe that there are other intelligent lifeforms outside of Earth, I doubt that there is any in the U.S.

  5. I think the government really wants to have the Sheahan´s Nevada Groom Mine because they feel that their land will add to whatever work they do in Area 51, but I do feel the people have the right to have their land and that the government will have to keep appealing to these people if they want to actually obtain it. But the land does have family history so both sides have reasonable reasons for keeping or buying the land.

  6. I think that it is important to the because they need more space to hide the secrets they have in are 51. If this does have anything to do with extraterrestrial life then this would show that the government likes to keep secrets. I would fight this battle in supreme court because I think that I would win.

  7. I believe that the government wants this land because of what it is holding within. If one of the pedestrians saw an unusual species or out of the normal. Then they would report it and show the whole world what it may be. I would stay there as much as possible.

  8. I think the government wants this land, because of how they do not want anyone to see whatever they are up to in the government facility they have. The government may be seeing the Sheagans as a threat to their secrecy could be the reason. If i was the owner of this land, then i would defend my rights to the full extent, if i own the land then the government has no power to take it away from me.

  9. I think that the government wants the land because it is so close to a government facility and area 51 is a secret location for a reason. The government may not want citizens looking into what the government is doing. Also they might just want the land to expand their area. I would definitely fight this in the courts, no matter what the reason the government can not take away land that is legally someone elses.

  10. I wouldn't sell the land to the government for a cheap price. The government is trying to get the land since it is close to Area 51.

  11. Yes, I'd probably take it to court, but the courts would probably favor the government.

  12. I would take it to the court. Of course the government wants this land because of all the speculations around it.

  13. Well i would take it out to court out of suspicion of dealing of information on why the government want this land so bad.

  14. Area 51 is a hoax created by the Russian government in order to infiltrate and hack our US government. This is a classic example of Putin's reach extending to the Americas.

  15. If my family legally owned this property, I believe that the government has no right to take it away and because of that I would not be afraid to go to court

  16. I would be upset if the government had to take my families legally owned property. I would probably no be afraid to go to court and will try to fight this battle.

  17. I think most people would take this to court.

  18. The government would never admit, even if it were true, if there were extra terrestrial life in area 51. I think its just a conspiracy for people to think that the government is obsessed with this land for this reason. There is no evidence to suggest that the government is hiding alien life.

  19. The land is so important to the government because it would be easier for them to just have the land and have to hear about the health concerns of the Sheahan family. I would not be afraid of the government, but I would rather not go to court and be able to settle the issue without having the pay for the cost of going to court and also dealing with all the stress of it.

  20. I agree with Emily because it is true that the sight is important to the government, and they need to pay attention to the health concerns of the Sheahan family. I would not be afraid of the government but instead handle it in a more proper manner through the court system.

  21. It's so important because it's a big chunk of land that the government want's so they'll do whatever they want to get it. The sight of extra terrestrial activity can play a huge part in why the government wants this land.

  22. I believe it is so important to the Government simply because of how close to area 51 the land is. I would imagine that the extraterrestrial contact in that area is a big motive to try to get every last citizen as far away as possible.

  23. I believe that the land is so important because of its size and the minerals it contains; this large plot of land could be useful for whatever the government is using Area 51 to test. This land is owned by the family, so I would imagine this would be taken to court since they would defend the right to their property. Also, the fact that there have been tests with radioactive wastes conducted without a warning given to the family is dangerous, and it is also harmful to the health of the family and the surrounding area, so this would definitely have to be addressed.

  24. I wouldn't feel like my family would have a good argument in court considering the federal court is a part of our government; the two could partner up with each other you never know. There are many conspiracy theories about Area 51 being apart of extra terrestrial sightings along with aliens, and if this was true I think the government would fear the family speaking outwardly about anything they saw, consequently ruining people's trust in our government.

  25. I think that it is important for the government to have this land because they want to keep whatever that is happening at area 51 a secret. If my family owned this land I would not be afraid to fight the government. It is my land and the government should not be able to just take it away especially at an unreasonable price.

  26. I believe that his land is so valuable because of what of under it or because the government thinks it is to close to area 51. I think that the reason that they do not want the house there is because they think they are spies. I would legally fight because they most likely have a made up and BS excuse.

  27. I think that just because is in the area 51 the government just wants to take over and want nobody to live there and they would just want no one what they are up too but yes I would take it to court

  29. If the government intends to repossess this land, they have to evaluate how much revenue the mine in bringing in to the family that owns it. Taking this land would force this family to relocate and create an entirely new livelihood for themselves, so they should be duly compensated.

  31. I think the government just wants people to keep believing these conspiracies, the government may believe that this family is trying to expose them. I would take legal action.
