The Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell both support the initiative to look into Russia hacking the election. They state that any foreign intervention in the polls is "unacceptable." The two say that they will use their own intelligence committees to investigate the allegations. The CIA has been investigating the matter, and there has been no concrete evidence of Russian tampering that has come up yet. Trump defends himself, tweeting: "Can you imagine if the election results were the opposite and WE tried to play the Russia/CIA card. It would be called conspiracy theory!". While both Ryan and McConnell support the investigation of the election, Ryan states, "As we work to protect our democracy from foreign influence, we should not cast doubt on the clear and decisive outcome of this election." If the accusations came out to be true, then current relations with Russia would become a lot worse than they already are. It is also possible that the recount effort led by Jill Stein will skyrocket in support, and Trump may not be allowed to take office. On the other hand, if the accusations were false, it would make the Democratic party and those against Trump seem vengeful and unwilling to accept a fair, democratic election.
Do you think Russia had any influence on the outcome of the election?
What would happen if they were found to actually have done it?
Would there be any sort of impact if Russia didn't do anything?
I feel as if Russia had nothing to do with the election, and the fate of the election solely depended on who the uneducated whites voted for, which the outcome proves it to be Donald Trump. If the allegations were not to be true then Hilary Clinton would look very foolish and her respect would decrease dramatically as she grabs at any help she can get to become President.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that Russia had a big enough influence on the election to effect the outcome. I believe the outcome of the election is based on Americans beliefs and the way the electoral college is played out.
ReplyDeleteThe russians had nothing to do with this election, and with the FBI investigation with Hillary recently, there isn't much trust in national intel at this point. The media surrounding the election has led to countless accusations about the votes, and when the russians are proven not to be a part of it, it will make many people look desperate months after the election.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the Russians would have had that much of an influence on the election that people are thinking. The vote came down to the electoral college which I don't think Russia had any part of. If it ever turned out they did have something to do with it then we should re-evaluate our security and government.
ReplyDeleteI agree with them investigating possible hacking not in order to change the outcome of the election, but to see if Russia is forcing its way into american politics, if so then this will likely be the end of semi friendly relations with Russia and could even lead to war.
ReplyDeleteI highly doubt that Russia was involved in this year's election and don't see much use for them investigating into it. However, if it's revealed that they did so, then relations with Russia will definitely worsen. If Russia didn't do anything, then their relations might stay the same, but there's no doubt that they'll be offended or upset about being put to blame for the outcome of the election.
ReplyDeleteI feel that Russia would not be able to have a large impact on the election but I think if there is something discovered, many people, no matter the party they support will be affected if it becomes a news scandal.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that Russia had anything to do with the election. If they were actually found to have done it then the relationship with the u.s and Russia would change. There wouldn't be any impact if Russia didn't do anything.
ReplyDeleteRussia hacking into the Polls is a hoax, I'm sure the CIA, NSA or a government agency would of detected it at the time of the intrusion. the election would be held by a poll within the government, and they would probably take popular vote. If Russia didn't do anything than this would be just another rumor that the internet spread wildly.
ReplyDeleteAs unlikely as it is I think that Russia hacking the polls should be investigated not to change the election outcomes but so that we know if other countries are trying to get involved in our politics.
ReplyDeleteNo I do not think that Russia had anything to do with the election at all. If Russia did do anything then I can guarantee the relationship between the US and Russia would turn horrible. Whether Russia did or did not do anything, I truly believe it would not have changed a thing.
ReplyDeletei don't think Russia actually hacked the polls. If they were found of actually hacking the polls, there would be a lot of tension between the US and Russia.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that Russia had any interference with this election. I feel like people are just trying to find ways to have a problem with the outcome.
ReplyDeleteRussia had a favor towards trump but i dont believe that they had anything to do with the election.
ReplyDeleteEveryone I don't like is either a Russian or Hitler. This is a classic example of Putin trying to win the game and get Trump to bend the knee. Some themes in this news story is homophobia, misogny, and pansexual haters.
ReplyDeleteI think that Russia had no impact on the election, it solely had to do with the candidates.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that Russia had much of an impact on this election. If they were found to have something done about this there might be consequences that they may face.
ReplyDeleteIf Russia truly did have anything to do with the election, the US will definitely hold it against them. So much for bringing back good relations.
ReplyDeleteEven if Russia was actually a part of hacking the election, Trump would want to believe wants he wants to believe. If this tension furthers our relations with Russia will be no more.
ReplyDeleteI don know if Russia had anything to do with the outcome of the election, but I think that we should look into it. I agree with Paul Ryan in the sense that we should still accept our election results. Trump won.
ReplyDeleteI dont know if Russia did or did not hack the election, but I think that republicans are extremely skeptical of Trump's future is scary.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe Russia had anything to do with it.
ReplyDeleteFrom the information that we have so far people think that Russia had something to do with the outcome of the election but I personally on't think so. The problem is that people can't grasp and understand that Trump is our next president and trying to blame it on someone else for the reason of Clinton losing her presidency race. If they were to be found of doing it then they might do re-election but it wouldn't change the outcome of Trump being president. I believe their would be any impact if Russia didn't do it.
ReplyDeleteThe outcome of the election was from the influence of the candidates and their parties, not the unlikely chance that Russia had interfered with the polls. If people are not satisfied with the results, then they have the people who voted to blame for taking this election lightly.
ReplyDeleteI do not think Russia had any impact on the elections, but rather elderly white Americans were the reason why Trump won.
ReplyDeleteThis is rather atrocious to me. Clinton lost, Trump won, thats how it is. Trying to blame an outside source is just attempting to ignore the problem, which is something americans as a whole have a problem doing. instead of blaming an unfortunate outcome on someone else, we should focus on ensuring that a duplicate outcome does not ever occur again.
ReplyDeleteThe story is still fresh and the facts aren't all in yet so i think it is too soon to make an accusation.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Russia could have had an impact on the elections, however, I think it is definitely something to look in to.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that Russia had a big enough influence on the election to effect the outcome. I believe the outcome of the election is based on Americans beliefs and the way the electoral college is played out.
