Trump responds immediately to 'Saturday Night Live' skit mocking his tweets

In an article written on the USA Today website, Trump expresses his feelings toward actor Alec Baldwins impression of him on SNL a.k.a. Saturday Night Live. Within only one hour of the shows live broadcast, Trump immediately responded, outraged that SNL would mock him the way they did. Trump said "Just tried watching Saturday Night Live - unwatchable! Totally biased, not funny and the Baldwin impersonation just can't get any worse. Sad". This response, given from his twitter feed, provides the american people with evidence to believe Trump is an inferior president and he will be bothered by little things like mocking him. In the past many other presidents were mocked and were not bothered by the impressions made on SNL: Michael McKean as Bill Clinton, Darell Hammond's as George W. Bush, Fred Armisen playing president Barack Obama.
With this in mind, do you believe Trump will continue to be disturbed by the medias mocking of him?
Is it possible that Trump will grow into the president we want and need?
Will Trump ever discontinue the comments he makes on twitter and pay more attention to his presidential duties?
I think that when one holds a high enough power, they will be mocked and will in fact continue to be mocked. I don't think Trump knows how the media quite works but I feel that when he officially takes office he will little by little start to forget about it because the president usually has more important situations to take care of.
ReplyDeleteI think its petty and low of him, as our president, to be complaining about an offensive depiction of him. As a public figure and the president of the US, nothing is off limits for us to make fun of, regardless of citizens' patriotic obligations.
ReplyDeleteI think he will get used to it because he is going to be president and they do get alot of hate. Trump is already the type of president that alot want and need because he represents change for everyone. Noone is used to his party because Obama has been in office for 8 years. Once he is officially president he probably wont make the comments just so he is not removed from office.
ReplyDeleteHe wanted to be president, now he has to deal with everything that comes with it. Criticism is an everyday occurrence for anyone in the public eye, you don't see Obama complaining about the jokes about his ears or the criticism of his policies. He just laughs along and then turns the joke around in his favor, playing the criticism to help him send a message to the country. Anyway, can someone please just take Twitter away from Trump? He's really not helping his own cause.
ReplyDeleteI think that he is immature to be our president and he should take in consideration that many celebrities are made fun of in social media and sometimes they may respond. he takes them too seriously.
ReplyDeleteThe mocking will definitely not stop, ask Mr. Baldwin. While it is certainly possible that Trump could be the president that we need, we still never know if he will screw something up or note, and the chance of that happening is likely because from what I've seen, both Bush and Obama have done it. Trump will never stop looking at twitter because he is technically a celebrity, and celebrities never take their eyes off of social media.
ReplyDeleteIf he's going to cry about media making fun of him, then he should just step down from presidency or get used to it.
ReplyDeleteI think with Trump being such a child on people only mocking him, and letting it get to him, when many other people have made fun of other presidents is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteThe fact the Trump LITERALLY acts like a 5 year old is so ridiculous. I don't know why he lowers down to that level
ReplyDeleteI believe that Trump just needs to get used to people making fun of him b/c it is what comes with presidency as shown in previous SNL skits. He is acting completely immature for someone who is supposed to lead our country.
ReplyDeleteFor Trump, Twitter is a defense mechanism. Whenever Trump feels attacked, he immediately starts shooting insults towards what is attacking him. Trump is going to continue to be influenced by what the media says because he is insanely sensitive.
ReplyDeleteI think hes just gonna need to ignore them all because everyone is probably gonna keep making fun of him. I believe that anything is possible but I doubt he'll be the "president we want and need".
ReplyDeleteI believe trump is going to ignore them but probably would follow what the media would say because he wouldnt be the same president as the others.
ReplyDeleteI think that the fact that he makes these comments shows it is going to be a while until trump grows in to the president we need, the question is how long will we wait.
ReplyDeleteI believe that trump needs to focus more on his presidential duties than his tweets, but I do understand that when someone is attacking you you want to defend yourself, but I believe as a President you need to act maturely and ignore it. I think he needs to become not disturbed by the media, but I am unsure if he actually will do this.
ReplyDeleteSaturday Night Live is very smart and funny just like Comedy Central and John Oliver--all smart and funny America needs to get over it. Fox news is a disgrace CNN is the bible, Huffington Post and BuZzFeEd are very reliable contributing sources. Trump needs to go to Alleppo and save the childeren.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily that Trump should respond to these comments in a professional manner. Responding through casual tweets that can be taken in different ways, is not effective and potentially harmful to his reputation as president.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe that Trump will stay disturbed over the media's portrayal of him. I believe that Trump will not be able to grow into the president that the people want just because once he changes people will always want more (see Give a Mouse a Cookie).
ReplyDeleteTrump will be disturbed for the rest of his life, the image everyone has in their mind of him will never change. Trump might change his ways, he first needs to clean up his act and watch what he say's.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Trump will always be disturbed with what people say/do about him in the media. He loves attention and loves to bring even more attention to himself. Therefore, by him always addressing the mockery, it will always keep him in the spot light. Good attention or bad attention is still attention to him.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Trump will always get disturbed by the media and he won't grow to become the president we want him to be.
ReplyDeleteI do not think Trump will always be disturbed by what the people say, because some of it may not even be relevant to him.I am not sure if he will become the president we need, but I think he deserves a chance to prove himself
ReplyDeleteI think even if Trump does get irritated with what the media is saying he has to brush it off. If he does want to grow into the President that we need him to be then he needs to get past the judgement and do his best.
ReplyDeleteI think that Trump should not be disturbed by it because SNL has been impersonating numerous people in a funny way, and even past presidents (said above) and they have not been upset nor gone on tweeting rants like Trump. His actions show just how immature he is. Because of this and his previous actions to what he has shown the people, I don't think Trump will grow into the president we need or want him to be and don't think he will discontinue commenting on twitter and focus more on his presidential duties, as he should.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Trump should not be disturbed by social media and remarks made to criticize him. Trump makes very controversial statements; naturally, the internet would respond and discuss the qualities of the man who is going to be our President. I feel that Trump will pay attention to his presidential duties for the sake of our nation as a whole, but the fact is that he lacks a filter. I feel as though these social media comments will continue. Similarly, when the cast of Hamilton delivered a statement to Mike Pence in a respectful and eloquent manner, Trump made a comment attacking them on Twitter and demanded an apology. Trump has to realize that free speech is a given right.
ReplyDeleteFrom seeing the current situation as well as what he's been like in the past, I think Trump will probably continue acting immature in response to media criticism. I definitely think that it's inappropriate and that he needs to put more focus towards issues in the nation, and I really hope that he changes in the future to become at least a little bit more of the kind of president we need.
ReplyDeleteTrump has proven that what people say on media affects him on multiple occasions, therefore I do believe he will continue to do so. However, it does make him appear more in the media which I feel like is the outcome he seeks. If he is getting what he wants I don't see why he would stop what he's doing.
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump is right, SNL is liberal and they aren't afraid to show it. However, Trump needs to understand that this is a satirical show, meant for entrainment purposes. However other media sources such as New York Times and CNN need to remain professional and relay accurate information-the purpose of news media and journalism. When Trump claims that he is pro gay marriage, that was not exposed by the media simply because it would not garner enough attention. I honestly don't know if Trump will be a good president, I am expecting the best for the future. As a president especially in this century, he needs to accept that memes and attacks will be made against him, it is practically part of the job description.
ReplyDeleteI do think that Trump will continue to be disturbed by the media mocking him. All he is trying to do is try and defend himself from all the critics. If the media continues to mock him than Trump will have no other option but to try and defend himself. Its too early to say whether or not will become the president we truly hope he will become but at this moment with all his planned ideas it may or may not be good for everyone. As long as the media will stop harassing him than he will stop going back on the media but if the media continues to harass him he will have to continue to defend himself.
ReplyDeleteI think that in Trumps case, he should know that the media is going to be out to get him, and should have already developed a thick skin towards the mean comments and not let them get to him. I feel that he shouldn't address the critics but focus on the bigger issues at hand that our nation faces.
ReplyDeleteI think Trump will continue to be disturbed by the media mocking him and always will have a response. As president, he should worry less about what the media is saying about him and worry more about his duties as president.
ReplyDeleteHe has taken part in the media for a couple years, so one can assume this isn't the first time coming across something like this. As mentioned before, criticism is inevitable -regardless of who you are. As suppose to putting his energy onto remarks made for entertainment purposes, he should be working on what he plans to do for our nation.
ReplyDeleteI think that Trump being disturbed by the media is not very presidential like, especially to go public with it. He has to know that the media will not stop and should not complain about it.
ReplyDeleteI think that Trump cannot be bothered by the mocking from the media because there will always be criticisms and he can't take that to heart. I think once he takes office he wills slowly start to be less and less bothered by the media.
ReplyDeleteI believe that he will always have comments on the way he is being mocked all around because he is super childish and cannot let things go. I do not think that he will grow. I think that he will not stop but his team will make him stop because they know how his childishness will make him look to everyone.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion Trump should not pay attention because yes many people like him, but theres also many more people that do not like him and will continue making fun of him and mocking him. Trump is also very childish which makes people want to mock him, he is seen as a joke.
ReplyDeletethis is another example of one of the many things people do not like about donald trump. he is volatile. a president should be unfazed by a comedians impression, not become outraged
ReplyDeleteI agree with Daniela and he shouldn't pay attention to it. There are far more important issues to worry about than a Saturday night live skit.
ReplyDeleteMr.Trump will get over the media mockings after getting used to them. It'll just take time. I feel that it's possible for him to grow into the president that our nation needs, we just need a little bit of hope (: He will probably focus on the media more because he's an active social media user.
ReplyDeleteTrump will not grow into a president we need and want, at all due to all of his childish behaviors.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Trump will continue to tweet and react negatively to the media because he cannot handle it. However, he should not pay attention to it. By addressing it, he only makes himself look foolish. It is apart of being famous and being the president. Many people will jump at the opportunity to lash out at someone in the spotlight, but it is their on to ignore it and continue.
ReplyDeleteI think he will not stop his tweeting because he is too immature to handle it and No I do no that he will grow as a president and because he lacks of experience.
ReplyDeleteyes we will keep be disturbed by the media mocking him. He will always respond to them in a defensive way. Anything is possible he can surprise us but i doubt hell be the ideal president we all need. Hes paid more attention to his twitter than his presidential duties, if we keep mocking him hell try to actually do his job.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think he will always be disturbed by tweets or just media in general because he wants to play the victim. And he gets defensive because sometimes what people say are true and then he feels like he has to defend himself.
ReplyDeleteAs long as the media will stop harassing him than he will stop going back on the media but if the media continues to harass him he will have to continue to defend himself. As a president especially in this century, he needs to accept that memes and attacks will be made against him, it is practically part of the job description.
ReplyDeleteI think his own actions have led others to think of his presidency as a joke, so he should accept that others want to be distant with him and his policies. I also think that over time, he will be more accepting and less closed minded.
ReplyDeleteHe should accept that people are against him.
ReplyDeleteI believe needs to start realizing his rights and wrongs and then he will see why many people are against him.
