This guy is the 45th President of the Free World |
article link Very reliable and honest Washington Post

The President-elect Donald J. Trump announced today that he successfully negotiated a deal with the Japanese telecom and Internet company Softbank, in which Softbank will invest $50 billion in the United States and create approximately create 50,000 jobs. It is important to note that Softbank is the majority shareholder of the Sprint company and its transition to America is a great sign of prosperity to come--relative to Trump's overall message to "Make America Great Again." Furthermore, in order to create jobs in America, Softbank plans to invest into multiple start up companies across America. This is an interesting trend for Trump to already be doing presidential cool stuff when he hasn't even been sworn into office yet. This also builds upon his recent Carrier deal he made to keep 1,000 jobs in the United States from moving to Mexico. It's also interesting to note that the CEO's son of Softbank claimed that if Hillary Clinton was President this deal would have never happened. All of Trump's campaign talk and promises to create more jobs and uphold America's strength seem to already be happening. In addition to the trustworthy Washington Post, CNN is also telling me that this deal is all just a political stunt that is aimed to glorify Trump's future presidency--somehow this has to be all a massive plot to induce more racism and xenophobia. So there you have it, two polar opposite viewpoints of this deal from two very reliable news outlets.
Discussion Questions:
This is some pseudo-intellectual quality content here. As a frequent reader of the Aragon Outlook, I can sat this is a classic example of Trump playing 8-D chess and playing everyone including the Japaense now. I can only say that our hope for America is John Kasich who will save the day.
ReplyDeleteI think that though trump has been elected he knows that he still must fulfill his promises in order to be reelected in 2020 so he know he needs to try and gain more public support
ReplyDeleteI think Trump's proactive ability to make this deal shows he is serious about the future. Although this is happening I still question whether or not it is all just for show or he is really going to be good for this nation.
ReplyDeleteI feel like you almost have to redeem yourself after you pull stunts like his campaign if you actually want to have a successful presidency. I am sure he cares about this country or he wouldn't have ran, he probably finds this as the best way to continue so that he can gain the support of the people in the country who don't already follow him, which is what he should be doing in the first place. I do not support Trump, but I am interested to see how he plays his first year out, as well as the results of his overall presidency.
ReplyDeleteOne big bonus to his power in the country is of course the economic status he brings to the table as probably the greatest business man to ever be president. This will definitely attract the attention of big boys in the international industry regarding money. This might do a lot of good for the country, and again, interested to see how it all comes together from January on.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Addam that one big skill he is bringing is his economic presence and that he will most likely be the best business man that we have had for a president.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe that this is all a scam because, before the election it was all slandering and hate towards Trump saying that the race is not fixed he is just losing. Then now all of the people that have said that are now saying it is rigged, i believe that people are just upset and are taking this way out of proportion.
ReplyDeleteI think that he is doing this to prove people wrong, maybe he wants something to give to the people that did not vote for him in the popular vote. He was mad about the outcome of the election even though won the electoral college. Not sure who exactly he is going to give these jobs to though.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a scam at all, I believe that he somehow made a deal with the Japanese in order to get them to invest in America. Foreign countries are more invested in this country because they understand what kind of person our president is, and are taking the risk. Bernie can win this election if we all come together and win the game by showing how much he means to us.
ReplyDeleteForeign companies are more inclined to move west because they can make deals that they have made deals with Mr. Trump before.
ReplyDeleteI do not think it is a scam, and he really did make a deal with Japan.
ReplyDeleteIt is not a scam because now Trump is the President and what he does is now official and it matters. I do not believe that Sanders can win the election at this point, he has been out of the race for a very long time at this point. Trump's actions of salvation have not made up for his xenophobia, but I think it is good that he is atleast trying to the amend things.
ReplyDeleteTrump seems to be doing whatever he can in order to appeal to everyone in the nation, and he's not doing a bad job. It's believable that the deal in Japan did happen, because Softbank did state that if Hillary was elected, they would not have done this deal. Perhaps it is because of all the scandalous things related to her.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Trump is not working on a scam because all of his actions officially affect the U.S., and it can have effects that spill over after his term. Trump is trying to appeal to the people of the United States, but this does not make up for his xenophobia. I also do not think Sanders can win the election at this point because he has been out of the race for a long time. Right now, Trump is trying to prove himself to regain more public appeal.
ReplyDeleteSince his election, Trump has been working towards taking the presidency seriously and so I agree that it is not a scam and so whatever action he proceeds to do should be handled in a serious manner
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting that you include the statement made by the CEO of Softbank's son that this deal may never have been made if Hillary Clinton were president. I think that this may be true. Women in Japan face an extreme difficulty in trying to raise themselves in the ranks of the corporate ladder. If Japanese women aren't treated as equals in the Japanese workplace, then I would venture to assume that large Japanese corporations like Softbank would be less likely to engage in negotiations with a woman national leader.
ReplyDeleteForeign countries are more invested in this country because they understand what kind of person our president is, and are taking the risk. I can only say that our hope for America is John Kasich who will save the day.
ReplyDeleteI do not think it it's a scam because it trump has promised to great more jobs. I think more foreign countries are involved now because he is a smart Business man .
ReplyDeleteI highly doubt that this is a scam. Donald Trump really did want to help Americans and I feel that by creating this opportunity, it may benefit many people. I also believe that more people may grow a liking to him b/c of negotiations like these.
ReplyDeletei think this is a good first step as president elect. Its not enough to redeem his image but it does change my perspective on him. I dont think this is a scam.
ReplyDeleteThe scam sounds unlikely. Trump was elected b/c people believe he will be able to provide more jobs and stabilize the economy better
ReplyDeleteI believe that foreign countries are now wanting to invest in american companies for Trump will help the economy phenomenally to make other countries want to become affiliated with our country.
ReplyDeleteI think that trumps xenophobic mindset puts the future of a country full of immigrants at fear. He needs to change himself, or we will change him.
ReplyDeleteAlthough this does not dismiss Trump's xenophobia, his experience in business comes to show that he is capable to making strides for the benefit of our nation's economy.
ReplyDeleteI think Trump's proactive ability to make this deal shows he is serious about the future. Although this is happening I still question whether or not it is all just for show or he is really going to be good for this nation.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that this is fake, i think he really made a deal with japan.
