Clinton puts Trump on defense at first debate
http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/26/politics/presidential-debate-hillary-clinton-donald-trump/index.html
Hillary Clinton forced Donald Trump onto defense over his temperament. Clinton delivered the best zinger of the night in response to critics from Trump for staying off the campaign trail recently. Trump made some good points on the economy and jobs, but towards the end if felt repetitive. Trump made false claims as he made inaccurate statements on everything from laws. A CNN/ORC poll of debate found 62% felt Clinton won compared to 27% for Trump. One of the most powerful statements was when Trump acknowledge that President Barack Obama was born in the US. Clinton blasted him and said that he was telling a "racist lie". Clinton destroyed Trump towards his treatment of women. As said"This is a man who has called women pigs, slobs and dog," Clinton said. She accused him of calling a Latina beauty contest "Miss Piggy" and a housekeeper because of her ethnicity, which lead trump thrown off as he was asking "Where did you find this?" Through out the whole debate Trump had good points as well as Clinton, but Trump was very repetitive of what he was saying and it seemed like he could not finish some of his statements.

I believe that the candidates should have the debate, and leave the moderator out of it. I believe that the results were quite detrimental to the election in November. I believe that Trump will most likely end up winning because he is able to mud sling much better than Hilary.
ReplyDeleteI feel Clinton did better in this debate because the polls have shown the support towards Clinton is a lot higher. Trump did begin to be repetitive and did not answer the questions proposed by the moderator. I think at this point, both are about the same though Hillary might've gained more support from indecisive voters.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think that Clinton did better in this debate than Trump. Even though it is subjective who won exactly, Clinton was much more poised and confident that Trump. Trump was interrupting her a lot, saying a lot of lies, and was just repeating a lot of his statements, instead of building progressive ideas. Clinton was well prepared for the debate, whereas Trump prepared little and makes up stuff on spot, as he usually does.
ReplyDeleteI think Clinton should have the debate due to her seeming to be the least bit more professional and she seemed like she was prepared. I think that although Trump along with Clinton seemed to be less professional than the typical presidential debates, Trump did make valid points in might change peoples perspectives on him, even throughout all the uncalled for and racial comments. At this point, I honestly cannot decipher between the two.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Trump was better at debating than Hillary Clinton. His mudslinging methods such as "lol", "wrong", and "excuse me" were very effective during the debate because they tilted Hillary and thus cut down her many opportunities to rebut Trump. During the entire debate, Trump was rebutting against Hillary's idea, but the only rebuttal I heard Hillary make was that she was "prepared to solve the issues and prepared to become president."

ReplyDeleteI think that Clinton won the debate due to keeping herself calm and poised. I think that people will look up to her more because people try to find someone confident in times of need. I think that Trump raised interesting points but in the end I think that he lost because he wasn't able to keep his temper down and he was being incredibly disrespectful. I don't think there is going to be a huge effect because they just reiterated a lot of the points that the candidates had made before, so I don't think that many people were swayed. I think that Hillary will win it, however I have a really bad feeling that there are a lot of people in secret that will end up voting for Trump in the election. However, just on the surface it looks like Hillary might win it.
ReplyDeletei believe that Clinton should have the debate, because trumps methods were very childish in terms of of his responses. The results are affected by these debates because it shows us how good or bad the candidates are at arguments, which can lead to war.most likely Clinton will win.

ReplyDeleteI think that Clinton did better in the debate because she seemed more prepared and confident. I feel that anyone could win because they both had their arguments and it seems to be pretty equal to what America thinks.
ReplyDeleteClinton won simply because of her demeanor and composure throughout the whole debate. That being said, the election could still go either way. Obviously there are still debates left. People still have major disagreements on certain issues. Clinton must continue to impress while Trump must continue to implode on himself.
ReplyDeleteClinton won because she was very put together and was calm cool and collective as to Trump he was a nervous reck
ReplyDeleteClinton won because she was very put together and was calm cool and collective as to Trump he was a nervous reck
ReplyDeleteI believe that Clinton won the debate because of her calm and professional composure. She answered questions with ease and clarity while Trump answered questions in a scrambled and inaccurate way. The results of this debate will definitely affect the elections because it clarifys the positions each candidate holds on important issues.
ReplyDeleteI think Clinton won, but an analysis I heard was that if you are a Trump supporter, you probably thought Trump did pretty well in the debate. Therefore I doubt many Trump supporters will change their minds based on this debate, however, hopefully some moderates and independents got a good idea of who would be a better president from the debate. I really, really hope Clinton wins.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Clinton definitely won the debate because she was a lot calmer than Trump and she checked her facts and was more confident in her responses and she was also winning the polls after the debate. She seems to have gone up in popularity in general after the debate as well.
ReplyDeleteI believe at this point, Clinton probably has the better chance of winning the election because Trump has made a lot of enemies during his campaign.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Hilary won the debate because her responses to the questions were more factual whereas Trump towards the end started bashing Hilary instead of actually giving significant responses. Neither candidate is anywhere near perfect, but I think Hilary is going to win the 2016 election. She was far more prepared for this first debate than Trump was and during it she was more mature.
ReplyDeleteI feel like hilary will probably win because she's more of a leader than trump. I think Hilary should have the debate because she puts in that work and takes no days of like jordan.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Hillary had the advantage simply because diplomacy was in her vocabulary, and I fear Trump's extremism will only breed more extremism. I was impressed with her handling her self. When he started calling her Secretary Clinton, and she just coolly referred to him as "Donald". Which portrayed a small dominance over trump.
ReplyDeleteClinton won the debate because of her calm and professional composure However trumps methods were very childish in terms of of his responses.

ReplyDeleteI believe Clinton won the debate, but had a little help to claim this victory. As both candidates were asked various questions, it seemed to me that Trump was given much more difficult questions to answer than Hillary. I came to a realization of how she was helped during the debate was how Clinton was the first one to answer a question, every single time.
ReplyDeleteThe debate should have gone to Hillary Clinton because over-all she performed great in the debate. The results have influenced people to change their opinion towards each candidate. Hillary will win this election.
ReplyDeleteI think that Trump won the debate because they both got good hits out of it. Hilary and Trump both made some good points as well as really shitty remarks so really the debate could go to either of them. The results most likely influenced people little to nothing because this may have been one of the worst debates that have gone on. Trump will probably win the election.
ReplyDeleteI personally do not think anyone truly won the debate. The whole time it was truly just them bashing each other. Each them would give their input on a certain issue, but they pretty much used every issue to somehow insult one another. It is literally like a stupid twitter fight between two 13 year olds. It's sad that these are our choices for the LEADER OF THIS COUNTRY. This is a joke. Both of them are. We have seen how both of them are unfit to lead this country. We have seen the so called "mistakes" they have made. I would not vote for either of these people. I would not want either of them to win. These two are probably the most childish candidates we've had. If any of you are unable to see that, then you're just like the rest of the Americans who support either of them... You're blind. The sooner we all get some glasses and see the reality... The sooner we may actually change something. People want change, but they refuse to get up and change it. They refuse to make a difference. We as the people have that power. We just refuse to use it. We have to choose between two children. Two children who will ultimately ruin this country. Clinton should be behind bars, and Trump should have stopped being relevant after filing for bankruptcy the fourth time.
ReplyDeleteI think Clinton won the debate, however it was out of control. That's how I'd describe the first presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. What a train wreck for any voter who wanted to hear details about policy. Instead, we got Trump shouting insults and one-liners, interrupting Clinton, trying to take over the conversation. Shockingly, Trump admitting to the world: He was "smart" not to pay his federal income taxes; he supported a return of "stop and frisk" policing, even though it was ruled racial profiling and unconstitutional by the courts; and he defended his family's housing discrimination practices against blacks and Latinos, essentially saying it was just something everyone did back then. Clinton's sit-back-and-watch-him-implode strategy was frustrating at times but it worked. She could, however, show more passion when discussing her policies. On the issue of race, Clinton missed a perfect opportunity to talk more about her plan for law enforcement reforms and systematic racism in our justice system. Still for me, Trump lost at the first debate. Talking loud and saying little shouldn't be a path to the White House, therefore, I think Clinton will most likely win the election.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Clinton "won" this debate, in the sense that she was more poised and mature when speaking, as opposed to Trump constantly interrupting her. Also, Trump statements were not all facts, rather him insulting Clinton.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion the debate belongs more to a comedy show than a debate selling US citizens the vision of each one of the perspective presidents. Trumps treatment of woman shows his personality which has nothing to do with how the country should be run. Clinton herself may well be a victim of a similar treatment by her own husband ex-president Bill Clinton. In my view Bill Clinton's affairs while in the white house are more serious than Trumps treatment of woman. Mrs Clinton's inability to control her own family affairs is much more damaging to her presidential bid than Trumps behavior. At the end of the day non of this should matter more than well being of US as a country and its citizens. Trump seems to have a much more open and definitive view on the economy of this country. He has pin pointed the failures of current and previous administrations to correct trade and balances that occurred with many international agreements. Mrs. Clinton could not provide a clear direction as to how she will resolve such imbalances.
ReplyDeleteI think that the debate was somewhat out of control. The moderator was not able to stay with the time constraints and both candidates went back and forth on things somewhat irrelevant to the topic of the debate at hand. However, I do think that Trump's temperament was once again shown in this debate. I feel like it is hard to say whether one person beat the other because it was just a lot of bad and forth between the two candidates and each person saying bad things about the other to make them look bad. Nothing was truly debated.
ReplyDeleteI personally believe that Hillary Clinton will win the election because she isn't always focused on attacking her opponent but is trying to persuade people to support her as she makes promises. Both candidates definitely have their controversies but again, personally I don't think that Trump will win as he himself had doubt earlier that he would ever make it this far.
ReplyDeleteI felt that Clinton won this debate because she made better arguments and focused more on her position on issues instead of attacking Trump. Trump did a lot of attacking instead of answering questions. He also tried to avoid a lot of questions and was very repetitive. Hillary also did a good job of defending herself when Trump was attacking her.
ReplyDeleteClinton had the upper hand on this debate, as she was able to use facts to back up her claims, rather than lie and deny proven facts and quotes as trump did. As for the election, i think it can still go either way
ReplyDeleteClinton was able to do what many opponents of trump have not been able to do. She put him on defense and made him look foolish after all his false statements which clearly won Hilary the country for that night. Therefore I feel, if she continues to do that she will have the election.
ReplyDeleteI think Clinton should have won the debate due to an extraordinary political performance she put on. This will greatly affect the outcome of voters for this is the very first televised debate between the two candidates which has an impact on their first impression.
ReplyDeleteI think that Clinton did better than Trump in this debate. Clinton succeeded in playing the offensive side of the debate which led to Trump running out of things to say.
ReplyDeleteI did not watch the debate but from what I read here, I think that Clinton won the debate. This will affect the election in November since people were able to understand the candidates' stand on different issues.People will vote for the person they mostly agreed on. I do not know who will win the election but I hope that Clinton wins just because I do not want Trump to become the president.
ReplyDeleteI think clinton did a better job than trump. I think these debates will help them get their last few things across.
ReplyDeleteI think that both of the candidates both did not do a good job in the debate because they both avoided some political issues and focused on attacking each other.
ReplyDeleteI think the debates are simply to increase their votes and convince the non-voters to vote. I don't have an opinion on who did a better job just because its personal.
ReplyDeleteI personally do not believe that the debates are helping either candidate. I feel as though they are serving as a childish encounter between two political candidates. In order for the debates to actually serve a purpose, they need to focus on the actual issues at hand. Most people are tired of hearing the rumors and banter between the two.
ReplyDeleteI think this proved that trump is not eligible to run for president. Sad to think he is still being Allowed to run for president after all the hurtful comments he has made. I think Hilary did a better job because trump kept making up things.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Clinton won the debate because she was able to maintain calm and professional composure when answering questions. The results of this debate are important because defines where each candidate stands on important issues -and thus, gives people all the more reason to vote.
