This week on the 23rd of October, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton stated made remarks about what she was going to focus on in the last couple weeks until the election. One of the things she stated was about Republican Donald Trump : "I debated him for four and a half hours," said the candidate "I don't even think about responding to him anymore." This is a very important statement because, in these ending times before the debate it is important to ensure that the people know what a candidate is planning to do in office.
1) Do you think that this idea is a smart move on Clinton's part
2) Do you think that Trump should make a similar move to focus on policy
3) Do you thing that four and a half hours is enough to say what is needed about each candidate
Over all I think the both of them should start working more on their policies rather then constantly insulting each other. I also believe this is not a good decision to make is because communication is a primary form of succeeding.
ReplyDeleteI think that the American people are getting sick of the attacking happening on both sides. If both candidates would focus less on the other candidate, and more on the problems that America is facing right now, both candidates would be liked a lot more.

ReplyDeleteI think this idea is a smart move on Clinton's part because it shows how she will focus on the actual issues rather than just winning the election.I feel that if Trump wants to gain any more support or keep his support, he should start discussing the issues to prove he is focused on helping the country rather than just one-upping Clinton. Four and half hours is enough to say what is needed to convey each candidate's viewpoints of another.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this was a very smart move because it sounds disrespectful to the other candidates. Even though I do agree Trump's comments are not worth responding to, I still think Clinton should be the bigger person here and fight for the Presidency until the race is actually over.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nichole that it is not a smart move due to the disrespect, no matter who your opponent. I believe that Hillary should not believe she has won yet, at least until the race is over.
ReplyDeleteI think that she should still communicate with him so long as it helps her form her policy and know what she will do in office. I do think that it is a good decision that she said this because it shows how she is a more responsible candidate.

ReplyDeleteA reasonable, educated person should be more concerned about what presidential candidates are going to be doing during their term of office rather than their "zingers" during televised debates. I believe it's a smart move for Clinton to ignore what her opponent is saying and instead focus on her policies, because it demonstrates to the public that she's above verbal fights and she doesn't have to depend on Trump to show that she's a responsible adult who can get things done.
ReplyDeleteI feel like this is misleading because Clinton has been focusing on issues the entire time. While she does attack personally Trump, a lot of the attacks are also issue attacks. And yes, I would love it if Trump started talking a little more about issues in DETAIL, rather than just spewing words that don't really have much meaning or understanding behind them.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a smart idea because she will end on a good note. The childish debates can somewhat be forgotten, and people can focus more on what she will actually do in office if elected. Four and a half hours is not enough especially when the debates usually get off topic.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a good idea to start talking about her policies. She probably should've started talking about issues earlier so people can get a better idea of what she wants to do.
ReplyDeleteI think Clinton is making a smart move by ignoring Trump and focusing. Yeah it would be good idea if Trump did the same but we all know that won't happen cause he's that inmature
ReplyDeleteI think everyone is just annoyed with Trump so they just want to ignore him. Trump is gonna do and say whatever he wants as always. I do think it is very long but we do need to know what our next president is wanting to do.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good idea. She needs to show people what her plans are.

ReplyDeleteI think throughout the entire race, each party has focused too much on what the other did wrong. By focusing more on their own party, it allows the people to see each individual as a person, not in comparison to the other.
ReplyDeleteI think Clinton is smart not to respond to trump anymore because the people are starting to get tired of their childish behavior and I think trump should do the same and stop acting a child who does not know how to behave himself. Also I do not thing 4 half hours is not enough for the public to know them well because the whole time they were just fighting with each other.

ReplyDeleteI believe that is mature of Clinton to be focusing on issues rather than putting the other party down. It would be smart of Trump to follow in her footsteps, but everyone knows Trump does as he pleases and most likely will not do the same.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a good move on Clinton's part. I do think Trump should do the same because throughout the debate, he has just been attacking Clinton and not say how (giving details) he would follow through with his policies. I think that within those four and a half hours,we should be able to get the idea of what some of the candidates policies are, however, unfortunately I don't think we got a very clear idea in this election because a majority of the time was spend either throwing attacks or not answering the questions directly.
ReplyDeleteI believe this was a very goos move on Hillary's part because she is letting everyone know she is ready for office and prefers to focus on things that are actually important. I believe that Trump should do the same because all he knows how to do is insult Hillary and call her out when she says something that trump does not like or mostly on anything she says.
ReplyDeleteDuring this whole election, both candidates should have professionally focus on the issues. Hillary's late action to do so is disappointing, however better late than never. Her shift to primary focus on the issues will really help cement some undecided voters ultimately advantageous to her.
ReplyDeleteIt's obvious that both candidates have not really cared about the issues they need to worry about. That is already very disappointing. This is obvious damage control for Hillary. She wants people to see her in a more professional light. However, we all know she would rather bag on Donald some more because thats all they have done. Every single debate was them doing that. It's disappointing that these are our choices.
ReplyDeleteI believe that both candidates spent too much time fighting and arguing over irrelevant topics instead of focusing on the real issues. Clinton is making a smart move to not focus on Trump anymore though. She should be focusing on making her campaign better within these last several days
ReplyDeleteI definitely believe that presidential candidates should focus on what they will do and how it will affect everything rather than how worse the other candidate is. I believe the fact that clinton is just now "Focusing" on issues is very frightening, and is only worsened by the fact that trump has not yet "Focused" on issues.
ReplyDeleteThis should have been the candidates' focus from the beginning. By making constant claims to their opponent's incompetence and past mistakes, they dwell on the past and prove that they can't move on and figure out what is best for the country's future.
ReplyDeletewhen i saw the top of this article my first thought was "ITS ABOUT D@MN TIME" this entire election has equated to two children fighting in a playground. this should have been her stance from the very beginning
ReplyDeleteI think that this move by Hillary is overall a great necessity as she tunes in more on what she plans to do rather than speak on the cons of Donald Trumps plans. Trump should indeed do the same so instead of just putting his opposing party down, he actually displays how his plans are more beneficial
ReplyDeleteClinton is doing the right thing to not think of Trump and actually focus on real dilemas. She should focus on issues that are going around the world and how she'll help those. We will see how trump reacts because he might just copy with Hillary is doing just to get more votes. In all means he should focus on issues but if he's just doing it for himself then he just shouldn't even bother and leave it to Clinton. Ithink 4 and a half hours is enough time to talk about all the issues but with these two candidates it wasn't the hey wasted all their time by going off topic way too much.
ReplyDeleteI think that Hillary is doing the right thing by focusing on what she is going to do once she is in office. A lot of candidates usually talk all big and try to get under the skin of the opposing sides, but by saying what they plan to do in office, gives voters a better perspective on who and what they're voting for.
ReplyDeleteHillary's move is the right thing to do because it shows the strength she has, and how much she doesn't need to worry about Trump. Trump should also focus on policies instead of Hillary, it'll show that he is serious about the future of the country. Four hours is enough for a debate because it spends a lot of time already, and tells enough
ReplyDeleteI believe this is an extremely smart move on Clinton's part. As it comes closer and closer to election day, it is important to address the issues at hand. There is no need to continue their childish banter. I believe that if Trump wants to move forward in the election, he needs to shift his focus onto the issues and stop acting so childish.
ReplyDeleteI think this was the right move, it makes her sound focused and makes him sound irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteTrump should try to do a similar thing, but that's not his strength, his advantage over Hillary is mainly making her look bad.
I think this is a good move on Clinton's part. I do think Trump should do the same because throughout the debate, he has just been attacking Clinton and not say how he would follow through with his policies. Also I do not thing 4 half hours is not enough for the public to know them well because the whole time they were just fighting with each other.
ReplyDeleteI believe that this move by Clinton was very smart. People need to see which candidate is going to be a valid president, and people will not be able to judge that with the immaturity that has been going on. If Trump wants to start be taken more seriously, he should take some notes from Clinton.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Trump should focus more on politics rather than attacking Clinton and her supporters. I don't think that Clinton is making a good decision because communicating throughout the weeks is important so that the public can get to know her more
ReplyDeleteI think throughout the entire race, each party has focused too much on what the other did wrong. By focusing more on their own party, it allows the people to see each individual as a person, not in comparison to the other.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jad, that this elections has been more about attacking one another than talking about their actual policies
ReplyDeletei think its very smart of her thinking this way, since elections are closer than what we think and its better to focus on things that will get her closer to winning
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Jad, that these elections have been more of an argument rather than focusing on the major issues in America.
ReplyDeleteThe time given is a great amount being it limits both candidates to a specific amount of time to give short insightful answer rather than a longer period of time when they would give long and unnecessary answers.
ReplyDeleteI understand you're trying to be ironic, however I would like to state that it is supposed to be about the issues in the first place. I do not agree with how the debates have played out over the course of the last month or so, and it is infuriating to know that one of these children are going to eventually run the country.
ReplyDeleteIt is kind of upsetting that we have such a lack of maturity in the election, so much so that we have become the joke of the world at the moment. Hopefully whoever gets elected will grow between now and next January, or god save us.
ReplyDeleteTrump face is already upsetting and it would make sense that Clinton facing him for that 4 1/2 would be understandable. In honest truth, if clinton does become the face of the the US people will feel that her immature attitude will fall into her presidency.
ReplyDeleteTrump's actions are actually actually making Hillary look better and it is ruining his reputation at the same time. The debates should have been taken more seriously but it seems like a joke given the fact that they are just talking smack about eachother

ReplyDeleteThis is a horrible idea. We need Hillary to expose Trump as a racist bigot and use that to cover up all the problems with the FBI and emails. If everyone can see Trump as the racist bigot he is then the democrats can win the game and reign once more for another eight years. Yay(tm)
ReplyDeleteI think it is a smart idea because she proved that trump is not suitable for office. Trump should of focused on his issues to begin with and not clinton, i believe thats what lost him this election. 4 and a half hours is enough because within those 4 and a half hours clinton proved almost all of Trumps points and responses wrong.
ReplyDeleteI believe that this is a smart move for Clinton b/c many of these debates have been personal attacks versus focusing on policies. This may promote a more mature candidate in the future.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is a smart move on Clinton's behalf to make that statement. I also think that Trump should make a similar move because up until this point in the election all he has done is bash on Clinton rather than actually discuss his plans for major issues. I would say that a lot more has been said about each candidate by the other outside of just the four and a half hours of debate that have been spread world wide.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jen Horita because it is a smart move on Clinton's behalf to make that statement. In doing so that would benefit Hilary and Trump should do some type of move to get an advantage.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a smart move because she needs to be focused in order to help her chances of winning.
ReplyDeleteI believe that this is a smart move on Clinton's part as she is trying to show that she will not be consumed with all of the arguments that go one in the debates but is trying to find the solutions to problems that we have faced for many years.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they should have been talking about each other at all. They should have been focusing more on what they would do to better help this country while on office. Those 4 and a half hours could have been for better use, not for insulting each other.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they should have been talking about each other at all. They should have been focusing more on what they would do to better help this country while on office. Those 4 and a half hours could have been for better use, not for insulting each other.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Clinton is making the responsible, more mature decision in trying to stay out of drama, and focusing a lot more on trying to ensure the people that she has a plan to improve the country in any way possible.
ReplyDeleteI believe that this is a smart move on the part of Hilary Clinton because she is running for president and as president we the people need to know what she is trying to offer us. If she continuously tries and fight Trump we will never know what her plans are for us and that might put into question whether she is a worthy presidential candidate. Yes I believe that Trump should make a similar move on his part for the same reason as before with Clinton that if he continuously goes after Clinton and doesn't focus on what he is trying to achieve to become a president we might never know whether or not he is worthy of becoming a president.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is good she is changing her course of discussion. However, this should have been the case from the start. Much of the debate was simply mudslinging and both candidates acting somewhat immature. I believe Trump must make a similar move since his policies are not thoroughly outlined, and a main question directed towards his ideas and plans is "how?". He has not elaborated, so this is not beneficial on his part. I believe the four and a half hours would be sufficient if used efficiently, which was not the case since a large portion of it was dedicated to mudslinging.
ReplyDeleteI think clinton is making a very smart move on focusing on issues and not trump because people want a president that can make changes and not try to insult others. I think trump should do the same because he has been talking about other candidates a lot throughout this election it seemed to work in the beginning bu it won't work for long. i think they should taker less time to talk about other candidates and just focus on the issues in America.
ReplyDeleteClinton is making the right move on doing so because if she focuses on Trump than she's going to look less like a president and more like a debater. Trump should do the same, but I believe he won't do the same as he likes to debate and argue because he thinks that he will always win no matter what
ReplyDeleteI think Clinton made the right decision to not address him anymore. The point of this is to try and win the people over and get themselves up not attack one another (only thing trump knows what to do)
ReplyDeleteI think that both of the candidates should stop insulting each other and just be focused on the real stuff that is going to happen
