Earlier this week, Melania Trump met with Anderson Cooper for an interview with CNN. It was the first time she spoke out about the tapes of Trump. Melania disregarded Trumps comments as "boy talk." She furthered the comment of "locker room banter" to "boy talk." She also goes on to say that all boys talk like this and believes that Trump was egged on by the other people in the room during the recording. Although Melania has told Trump that his words were wrong, she still believes her husband. She believes that he respects women and that he is a good person. She also states that he has never said anything negative regarding women in front of her. Finally, Melania denies the allegations of Trump's sexual misconduct.
1. Do you believe that Melania truly thinks that he is being truthful?
2. Is Melania's comment only further damaging the thoughts of our youth by creating a rape culture?
3. Could this be a stunt to help out Trumps campaign? Having his wife behind him on allegations of sexual misconduct and denying encounters that she has had with his alleged victims?
I don't believe Melania when she says that she thinks her husband is being truthful. I think she's only saying this because she feels obligated to in order to help Trump win and/or because Trump made her. Ever since Trump decided to run for president, I've heard nothing but the nasty comments he has made or his dirty actions regarding several women in these past years. I wouldn't be surprised if he had his wife do this in order to gain more votes, especially now that the elections are coming up soon.
ReplyDeleteMelania will say whatever Trump wants her to say; it seems that she has no sense of individuality. Unlike her stepmother, Ivanka Trump described her father's comments as "inappropriate and offensive." The way in which Ivanka responded to Trump was much more respectable because instead of excusing Trump's words, she regarded them the way that they should always be regarded: negatively. Melania is furthering rape culture by making comments such as these.
ReplyDeleteShe definitely does not think Trump is being truthful. Overall, we can all agree that she will say whatever Trump wants her to say. She probably feels obligated to defend him in with all that has been happening. Her comments could be damaging the thoughts of our youth. Her defending him is basically her saying that sexual assault is okay. This could definitely be a stunt to help Trump's campaign. He's easily moving down in the polls, and be needs to do anything he can to get back up into the polls.

ReplyDeleteI do not think that Melania thinks he is being truthful. I think she is willing to say whatever she needs to make people support Trump so he wins. I think this situation only worsens Trump's campaign and makes people hate him more. Already multiple people have publicly spoken about how they no longer support Trump because of this.

ReplyDeleteRegardless of whether or not she think Trump is honest, she must stand by him. I think she is disturbed by the tape and anyone would deny that this kind of talk is unacceptable for anyone to be saying this.

ReplyDeleteI do not believe that Melania thinks that her husband is being truthful. I personally think that this is a stunt to help Trump's campaign. After Trump's lewd remarks about women because heavily publicized, his support dwindled. Women are leaning away from Trump, and this has caused a shift in votes. Trump would be willing to do all that is possible in order to regain favor with the public. I agree with Caroline; Ivanka Trump has not brushed aside this issue. With Melania Trump's statements, this would also create a rape culture by having both sexes agree that this is common "locker room banter."

ReplyDeleteI don't believe that Melania thinks her husband is being truthful, this might be used as an act to get Trump to win. I think she still needs to feel supportive of him even of the remarks he made on women.
ReplyDeleteI do believe, as previously stated, this is a stunt in order to raise Trump's numbers in the polls. In this case, she is just being a good wife and isn't going against her husband and bashing his name, but wants to see him succeed in the upcoming elections.

ReplyDeleteI do believe that Melanie is being truthful, in trusting her husband, and that is what is expected of the wife or the maybe next president.There is no such thing as rape culture, and the words she is saying does not damage anything besides her own reputation, as well as her own families.It may be a stunt to help Trump's publicity, because any publicity is good publicity.

ReplyDeleteI don't think that Melania Trump truly thinks that Trump is being truthful. I think that she is only believing Trump for her own benefit; to find her way into the White House. By hearing the words of Donald and Melania Trump, I think that it is hurting our society and showing people that the way he treats women is ok, which it is not. I do think this is a stunt to help Trump win to show that if his wife, who should have been the first person to leave him, is still by his side, then other women should be able to disregard it. However, this issue should not be something that should be swept under the rug and there should be repercussions for their actions.

I think that she feels somewhat pressured to say that she truly believes him because of the election and that fact that this is a public interview. I would say that Melania probably only said the things she did because of the fact that he is her husband and because the election date is coming up so soon.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that she believes that Trump is being truthful, but she is helping out his campaign in order for him to look like a victim and for him to be elected. It seems pretty funny that she has decided to talk about the comments and accusations against Trump a few weeks before the election. I believe that both Trump and her are being dishonest and blaming everyone for the comments and accusations.
ReplyDeleteI do not think Melania truly believes what she says, and I do think her words are dangerous. She's not doing anything to combat the belief that men are entitled to women's bodies. I understand why she's saying what she is, but I don't trust it as the truth. There's clear evidence that Trump doesn't respect women at all, and I think that's enough for me
ReplyDeleteI believe that Melania is almost just doing her part by staying true and faithful to her husband and only wanting to see him succeed. She is taking her husbands side on everything and not fueling the oppositions against him.

ReplyDeleteMelania seems to not have any thoughts of her own. I would not be surprised if all the things she says, are things Trump wants her to say. Not to mention I do not believe politics are where her strengths lie, it might be a family thing.

ReplyDeleteI believe Melania is trying to stay strong and i dont think what she says is the truth. Yes this could be a stunt to save Trumps campaign just to trick us that Trump didn't really mean it. At least her step daughter Ivanka was truthful about the tape. Melania should've been honest instead of putting an act
ReplyDeleteI do not believe Melania when she states Donald Trump respects women for various reasons. Most importantly, with her backing his story, notably this can be portrayed as being helpful to his campaign which is most certainly is. We as a society do not know what Trump is like behind doors but his wife does, so we must assume. However, a wife would without doubt help her partner even if his statements are false which is seen in this case

ReplyDeleteI doubt she is being truthful, I also think it is a poor use of words to call it "boy talk" because now she is making Trump seem like a boy. This is not helping Trump's campaign. I don't see how it could, in anyway.

ReplyDeleteI don't think Melania is being entirely truthful because as his wife, people would generally believe she needs to and is trying to support his campaign. To do so, obviously she would deny negative allegations and accusations of bad things Trump has done or said.

ReplyDeleteMelania isn't being truthful because if she was, I feel that she would be punished for doing so. I feel that her comment does damage the thoughts of our youth because she lets it pass as something that isn't serious. Having Melania standing behind him during his campaign is kinda necessary, without his wife standing behind him, his campaign would be seen as not worthy.
